Southern Arc Strengthens Its Board Of Advisors And Appoints New Chief Financial Officer
Vancouver, B.C.: SOUTHERN ARC MINERALS (TSX Venture: SA) (“Southern Arc” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the addition of Malcolm Baillie and Robert “Bob” Parsons to its Board of Advisors, and the appointment of Brian Richardson as Chief Financial Officer.
Malcolm Baillie is an engineer with over 30 years of experience at the chief executive level in the Indonesian exploration and mining sectors. He was instrumental in the acquisition and advancement of the world-class Weda Bay nickel laterite project on Halmahera Island, Indonesia, and the TSX listing of Weda Bay Nickel Inc. As a Director, he guided the Indonesian elements of its takeover by major nickel miner Eramet S.A. Malcolm has been a leader in negotiations with the Government of Indonesia on mining regulations and has served as a Director of the Indonesian Mining Association. Malcolm serves on the Board of Commissioners for a number of Southern Arc’s Indonesian subsidiaries.
Bob Parsons is a Chartered Accountant and former PriceWaterhouseCoopers partner. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Mining Association and the International Affairs Committee of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. Bob has served as a Board member of the PDAC (from 1985 to 2003), the Indonesian Mining Association, the Canada Indonesia Chamber of Commerce, the World Mines Ministries Forum, the Canadian Minerals Industry Federation, the Advisory Council of the Centre for Resource Studies at Queens University, and the Professional Advisory Board of the Government of Canada’s Petroleum Monitoring Agency.
Bob Parsons has also served on the boards of several publicly listed exploration companies operating in Indonesia, including East Asia Minerals Corp. Bob is active as an independent consultant in developing countries, where he has advised eighteen governments on mineral policy matters. Bob has also agreed to serve on the Boards of Commissioners of Southern Arc’s Indonesian subsidiary companies.
Brian Richardson, a Chartered Accountant, has over 20 years experience as a CFO and has held senior financial positions for a number of public and private companies. Brian previously worked for Ernst & Young in Toronto and in Hong Kong. He also holds an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Company would like to thank Cyrus Driver for his contribution as interim CFO.
In conjunction with these appointments, the Company has granted 400,000 share purchase options, at an exercise price of $2.00 per share.
