Southern Arc Releases Encouraging Assay Results from Drill Hole SLD030 at its Selodong Cu-Au Porphyry Target
472.6 m @ 0.16% Cu / 0.28 g/t Au from 98.2 to 570.8 mwhich includes higher grade intervals of:
284.95 m @ 0.20% Cu / 0.35 g/t Au from 172.20 to 457.15 m
and 101.00 m @ 0.28% Cu / 0.56 g/t Au from 276.70 to 377.70 m
and 47.00 m @ 0.34% Cu / 0.74 g/t Au from 276.70 to 323.70 m.
Drill hole SLD030, located midway along the 200 m interval between SLD004 and SLD006 (Figure 1), was designed to test continuity of moderate to high grade Cu-Au mineralization between previous holes SLD004 and SLD006, together with a coincident 3D magnetic anomaly modeled at moderate depths.
SLD030 was drilled west at an inclination of -65 degrees to a depth of 585.3 m. From the surface to the end of the hole, several phases of variably mineralized intermediate argillic to potassic altered diorites were intersected. A structural zone within the mineralized diorites between 234.7 and 278.6 m comprises localized shear zones with overprinting lower temperature assemblages, along with two narrow wedges of meta-volcanic rock (234.7 to 237.3 m and 258.5 to 278.6 m). From 570.9 m to the end of the hole a weakly altered hornblende-diorite dyke was intersected.
Results from SLD030 substantiate the continuity of moderate to high grade mineralization between SLD004 and SLD006, and will further support geological and mineralization modeling.
The Phase 1 drill program at Selodong has now been completed with 30 drill holes having been drilled for a total of 17,859.3 m. Results are currently being modeled and assessed. A complete review of the drilling program at Selodong and its results are provided in the Company's web site.
Detailed mapping and rock chip and channel cut sampling continues for the assessment of numerous targets over the vast 4.5 km by 5.5 km Mencanggah epithermal district. BLEG and stream sediment sampling is also under way on the Company's new Wonogiri property in Central Java. More information on these two programs is provided in the Company's web site.
Qualified Person and Quality Control and Assurance
The information in this release has been compiled under the supervision of Southern Arc's Vice President of Exploration Hamish Campbell B.Sc.Geology, MAusIMM. Mr. Campbell has over 23 years of international mineral exploration experience including 21 years in Indonesia during which he has held such positions as Exploration Manager, Senior Geologist and Consulting Geologist. Mr. Campbell has sufficient experience relevant to the style of mineralization under consideration and qualifies as a Qualified Person as defined in terms of NI 43-101.
All assaying of samples was undertaken by the ITS laboratory in Jakarta. ITS is one of the world's largest product and commodity testing, inspection and certification organizations. The Jakarta laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited and employs a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample tracking, quality control and reporting. In addition to the laboratory's quality assurance program, the Company employs its own comprehensive quality assurance/control program including blanks and standards, along with reassays of selective drill pulps by independent industry-accredited laboratories.
